Waste containers repair

11 October 2018

We are all used to seeing the waste truck pull up to the bin, hook it up and lift it up until the contents are unloaded into the truck bed. A routine action that we no longer pay attention to. Yet waste bins also get damaged and must be transported to the repair warehouse and moved there in the often narrow spaces of a workshop.

Amia, the Multiservizi company for environmental hygiene in the province of Verona, had exactly this need, to lift damaged waste bins to repair them in the internal workshop. So we went to do an inspection to evaluate all the phases of movement of the bin, the spaces and the encumbrances. We analyzed, in particular, the type of “mushroom” hook placed on top of the bins. Hook also used for transporting the bin from the ecological island to the workshop. We have therefore studied a particular hooking system suitable for fitting into the “mushroom” placed on the containers. We have combined this hooking with a customized version of the 01B5 rotating counterweight crane with electric traction, extension, lifting and lowering, modified with a maximum capacity increased up to 340 kg with a 1000 mm overhang, also increasing the lifting height by 200 mm. For better ergonomics, two handles were added on the ballast and two on the column, in order to facilitate the operator during the rotation of the fifth wheel and at the same time hold the raised container in position.

Once again we have managed to find the optimal solution for our customer, customizing one of our Cantilever Cranes.
